For a fourth successive year the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team will be racing the Panigale R in the Superbike World Championship with the sole aim of winning! #forzaducati

A long history of Superbike, 337 victories in 30 years

The story of SBK began in 1988 and the thirty championships held so far have seen the bikes from the Borgo Panigale manufacturer triumph more than anyone else in the category that is rightly considered to be a true test bed for production-based sports bikes. Since the victorious debut of the 851 in the first year of racing, and through a lengthy sequence of 337 wins obtained with models of the calibre of the 888, 916, 996, 998, 999, 1098 and the 1198, we have arrived at the Panigale R that currently represents Ducati in the Superbike World Championship.

The season that is about to get underway in Australia will once again see Chaz Davies and Marco Melandri on board their red Ducati bikes from the Aruba.it Racing team. Achieving the final objective is not going to be easy, but the team has tried to optimize the performance of the bike in view of the new-for-2018 regulations, which will impose a reduction of the engine revs for the most competitive bikes.

Chaz Davies, who has truly become a firm favourite of all the Ducatisti, will be racing the Panigale SBK machine for a fourth successive year, and as always, he is ready to fight for the title. In the last three years Chaz has finished runner-up on two occasions and once in third place and he is just missing out on the world title to close the circle. The fast and spectacular Welshman will never give up, and he will tackle the coming season more determined than ever.

Marco Melandri’s debut season on the Ducati Superbike brought with it one victory and a good number of podiums. For the Italian from Ravenna, the 2017 world championship revolved around consistency, and he finished fourth overall after getting the best possible result in every round. For the new season, we are certain that Marco will make the most of his accumulated experience and will be one of the key protagonists throughout the entire championship.

One of the big changes this year is the promotion to Superbike of the reigning Superstock 1000 champion Michael Ruben Rinaldi. As a result, the Aruba.it Racing – Junior Team will now take its rightful place on the world stage, but it will only be taking part in the European rounds. For the youngster from Romagna this is a great opportunity to emerge, and he can count on a solid and efficient team organization.

The line-up of Ducati riders on the grid concludes with Spain’s Xavi Forés, who is confirmed on the Barni Racing Team’s Panigale R. The rider from Llombai is tackling his third season with the Bergamo-based squad, and he knows he will have to work hard to score consistent results if he wants to improve on the good performance shown so far. As always, the Superbike World Championship starts in Australia and will come to an end eight months later in the evocative floodlit scenario of the evening race in Qatar. The 2018 calendar will also see a new entry, with a race at the new circuit of El Villicum in Argentina.

Everything is ready for the new season, which will see the Panigale R bikes take on their rivals in four continents. They will be followed by Ducatisti from all over the world, who will never fail to make their support felt under the cry of #forzaducati!
