Yamaha Motor USA will be releasing SCR950 in USA. The new model is a SCRAMBLER developed from base model BOLT.
Newcomer to the SCRAMBLER Series
SCRAMBLERs are not only popular in the USA but also throughout the world and this one is totally new. It is defined by YAMAHA as a sport heritage together with the XSR900.
The base is developed by BOLT, however rear tires have been enlarged from 16 inches to 17 inches. Frames have been partly redesigned including the seat frame and has modified the appearance of the motorcycle between the tank and the seat.
Handlebars have also been modified to a raised position giving the body the features of a dirt tracker. The number plate shaped side covers are designed with classical lines and ”SCR950” typography.
Equipped with Variable Air-cooling Engine
The size of the engine is 942cc and is equivalent to the Air-cooling SOHC4 60 degree V-shape Double Cylinder engine mounted to BOLT. It also has the same 5 speed range, compression ratio and is equipped with belt drive.
The capacity of the fuel tank is 13 liters. Spoked aluminum wheels give the motorcycle a classical appearance. It is also mounted with 298mm wave disc brake, block patterned 19 inch tire on the front side and 17 inch block patterned tire with 298mm single wave disc on the rear side.
The suspension is installed with Upright Telescopic Fork and Piggyback Twin Shock on the rear side. It will correspond to off road rides to a certain extent.
The retail price in the USA is $8,699US that is 880,000Yen in Japan. We are not yet informed whether it will be released in Japan or not. Sales in the USA start in July.
You will be able to find a wide range of custom parts such as underguards and number plates as you can for the XSR900.
