Ice Bike - TIGER 800 ICE BIKE SPEARHEADS DEBUT OF FIVE NEW TRIUMPH CUSTOM MACHINES AT NEC MOTORCYCLE LIVE SHOW

British motorcycle manufacturer Triumph unveiled five new custom bikes at this year’s NEC Motorcycle Live show (Nov 19-27), led by a highly-modified Tiger 800 Ice Bike.
Fitted with a heavily-studded rear tyre, the Ice Bike also has a completely redeveloped front end, using a modified front suspension unit to replace the front wheel with a functional ski.

As well as featuring a number of official Triumph accessories, including quality billet parts, a handlebar-mounted external temperature gauge, a satellite navigation holder and a headlamp protector, the custom Tiger 800 XCx also has a reworked front mudguard, shortened rear mudguard and a new side-exit exhaust system with a shot blasted finish. The Tiger has also been fitted with high-powered off-road LED driving lamps and emergency rescue tools, comprising a collapsible spade and ice axe.

Triumph also revealed a modified Speed Triple S painted in matt red with a shortened rear subframe and tail tidy kit. Slick Pirelli tyres have been fitted front and rear to complement the new Arrow Low Boy full exhaust system and high-performance Ohlins suspension, which is fitted to Triumph’s Speed Triple R as standard.

One of Triumph’s Tiger Explorer XCx models has also been given a make-over, with a one-off primer grey finish, off-road biased Michelin Anakee Wild tyres, an extra set of fog lights for improved visibility and Triumph’s full luggage system. Carbon-fibre wrapped jerry cans and aluminium water bottles adorn the top box and panniers at the rear of the bike, while a tank bag improves storage capacity at the front.

Motorcycle club and London venue Bike Shed has collaborated with Triumph on a standard model Thruxton, which was on display for the first time at the show. It features a huge number of aesthetic upgrades, including a tank stripped back to brushed raw steel and fitted with a Thruxton R retaining strap, Vance & Hines pipes, injector cover kit and a number of blacked-out items, including the wheels. The custom Thruxton has been stripped of its mirrors, fork gators and reflectors, and runs a tail tidy kit with LED indicators and a gold final-drive chain. A Street Twin headlamp with a tinted yellow lens completes the look.

Bespoke custom builders Old Empire Motorcycles also displayed their latest creation called, simply, “Triumph”. Based on the British firm’s iconic Bonneville, OEM looked to give the T120 Black a touch of Scrambler DNA by fitting Metzeler Sahara knobbly tyres, Renthal Fatbars and adjustable Fox twin shocks. The custom tank has been modelled from a 1960’s T120 item, which elegantly blends itself into the quilted leather saddle and hand-formed leather side panels. OEM’s Triumph is finished off with a custom nose cowling, reconfigured injector bodies complete with bellmouths to replicate open carbs and an AC Cobra-inspired open twin stainless pipes.
