YAMAHA MOTORS EUROPE presented ”TRACER 700” on their website. The base model of TRACER 700 is MT-07, a Touring Sports Model that is equipped with 2 cylinder engine. The Japanese name will probably be ”MT-07 TRACER”.

The New European Model that has been Buzzing with Rumors!

There has been a lot of rumor going on and at last the TRACER 700 has shown up! It’s a touring model created with MT-07 as base model. It’s a touring model relevant to MT-09 TRACER, not an adventure model as it was murmured in the rumors. It is equipped with 17 inch wheels on front and rear equivalent to those mounted to MT-07.

The vehicle weighs 196 kilograms (including fuel) and is 14kilograms heavier than MT-07 with additional ABS function. Also in regard of the fuel tank capacity which has been enlarged from 13 liters to 17 liters, the weight of the vehicle has increased about 10 kilograms in total.
Despite the fact that it’s a tourer, it’s better to be equipped with a large fuel tank therefore this is a favorable modification. I’m sure it will drive over 400 kilometers when it’s filled up.
The seat is a combined seat considering pillion riding and features stylish white stiches. Blinkers are uniquely mounted to the compact handguards.

Especially in Europe, tourers have a high majority and from YAMAHA, TDM 900 has been playing a big role as an ADVENTURE model. Since the retirement of TDM , MT-09 TRACER has taken over its place. But this TRACER 700 will not only contribute in the ADVENTURE field but also in the Mid-range.

With maximum output of 74.8PS(55.0 kW) 9,000rpm and maximum torque of 6.93 kg-m(68.0 Nm) 6,500rpm, it offers output equivalent to the MT-07. Unlike the MT-07, the swingarm of TRACER 700 is a long type therefore wheel travel on the rear side has been expanded from 130mm to 142mm and overall length has expanded about 53mm.
The caster angle of the front fork has been laid approximately 0.3 degrees to correspond as a touring model however maintains agile handling performance of the MT-07.

Fulfilled with Equipment Typical for Tourers

The windshield mounted to the cowl is adjustable. We are not yet informed in detail, but it doesn’t seem to be mounted with screws; it is assumed that the mounting bracket itself will move upwards and downwards. The full LED dispayed multi function meter is equivalent to the meter mounted on the MT-07.

The handlebar has a brace like the ones installed to off road bikes concidering that there will be electronic devises mounted to it. 12V sockets and electric power supply is provided on the side cowl.
It is designed so that side cases can be mounted which are reasonable aspects for a touring model. It’s considered that optional parts will also ba available in a wide range.

Retail Price and When it will be Released in Japan.

At the moment, we are not yet informed with release date or retail price. We’re sure news will be coming soon.
TRACER 700 is installed with Limited Power Version that corresponds to licenses and institutions of various countries which differ slightly from MT-09 TRACER. In Japan the two vehicles are in the same category and will no doubt be rivals against each other.

Although the light weight and fuel economy will surely attract riders. Its release in Japan wil be highly anticipated.
