It mounted the 669cm3 water-cooled straight 2-cylinder engine that adopted a PGM-FI. It generated rich and flat torque from its low rpm range. With its 270 degrees phase crank, it gave out this rich and comfortable pulse feeling. It achieved low fuel consumption while pursuing the joy of riding at regular rpm range. The combustion efficiency was thoroughly reviewed, the piston stroke was made long, the combustion chamber and the valve timing were optimized to make it undergo combustion for sure at low-mid rpm range, and the friction was minimized. It also adopted a catalyzer directly under the exhaust port that enhanced the purification of exhaust gas. It practiced excellent environmental performance with the use of the PGM-FI.

The flexible and rigid diamond frame was used for the chassis. Its main frame was place in a rather low place than normal bikes to let the rider experience the stable and obedient maneuvering feeling. The seat rail was also placed low to achieve the seat height 720mm. It had a good foot grounding property. In addition to that, it adopted a Φ 320mm wave type disc brake that excelled in braking and heat dissipation for its front wheel, and a Φ 240mm wave type disc brake for the rear wheel. The brake came with an ABS (antilock brake system), that prevented the locking up of front and rear wheels, as its standard specification. Based on the information of the wheel speed sensors equipped on the front and rear wheels, the ECU with self-diagnosis function continuously monitored the locking up condition of the tires. In case it detected any locking up of tires due to too much braking or the abrupt change of road surface condition, it evaded the locking up status and supported the controlling of the vehicle.

It came in two driving modes: “AT mode” and the “MT model”. There were two modes for the AT mode: “D mode” that suited regular ride, and “S mode” for sport ride. The rider could also change the gear by the “shift up/shift down” switch while driving in the AT mode, and could make it automatically return to the “AT mode” at an optimum timing. Also, by pursuing the control program, it made it have a seamless smooth acceleration/deceleration movement. Its smooth movement in ultra slow speed had worked well on the street roads, where the bike had to stop and start frequently. The maneuvering was made even more fun by adopting an exclusive setting for the “AT mode”, which made the shift down timing even more accurate and the pulse feeling more keen.
