[What is CE standard?]
The CE standard is a law introduced for the purpose of free movement of products within the European Union (EU).
Products that meet the safety, health or environmental requirements of consumers can be labeled with the CE Mark as proof.Products bearing the CE Mark can be freely distributed and sold in all countries within the EEA (European Economic Area) without having to go through the safety certification procedures.
Currently, the CE standard is the only safety standard for motorcycle riding protectors in the world.
・Main criteria and reasons
Back protectors are defined as EN1621-2 and other protectors as EN1621-1, and there are two levels, Level 1 and Level 2.
In addition to safety, there is also a fitting section for ease of movement when worn, which is a sign of a suitable protector for riding.
In terms of collision safety, both types of bikes are judged on the basis of the residual impact value when a 5kg mallet is dropped from a height of 1 meter.
CE-level1: In the impact test, the impact residual value shall not exceed 24 kN
CE-level2: In the impact test, the impact residual value shall not exceed 12 kN
*Impact residual value (kN) without protector is 50 kN
The smaller the value, the smaller the impact and the higher the protection effect.
