Hunter, a bike shop and parts maker in Edogawa Ward, Tokyo, which has recently been focusing on customizing GYRO CANOPY and GYRO X, asked us to make a rear box for GYRO CANOPY.
There are many large size rear boxes, but few of them are specially designed for gyro canopy.
If you want to attach a large rear box to the Gyro canopy, you need to make a hole in the rear cargo area (panel stopper, plate rear trunk bottom).
In addition, you will need to provide your own hardware for installation.
Hunter's request was to reduce the number of parts for installation and to make it easy to install.
There were two points: the design was sophisticated enough not to ruin the image of a custom vehicle.
■Rear box shape
The first thing you need to select is the shape of the rear box.
In order to meet Hunter's first request, which was to reduce the number of parts for installation and to make it easy to install, World Walk decided to make it fit over the cargo bed.
World Walk has succeeded in reducing the number of metal fittings required for installation by adopting a cover shape.
Moreover, if you match the color of the vehicle body, you can make it look like a stock part.
■How to install
Since the cargo bed where the rear box is installed is thin and not strong enough to be installed with tapping screws, World Walk decided to drill 9mm holes in the cargo bed and fix it with well nuts.
The well nut is a nut with an excellent anti-vibration and sealing effect, and is easy to put on and take off because there is no need to hold the nut side when tightening the bolt.
■Improved visibility
Normally, even if the rear box is equipped with a lamp that lights in conjunction with the vehicle's stop lamp, it cannot be installed without modifying the vehicle's wiring.
However, in the case of GYRO CANOPY, the wiring for the stock optional high mount stop lamp is installed on the vehicle side, so there is no need to modify the wiring on the vehicle side.
Since the wiring from the body side is connected with a bullet terminal, the high mount side of the LED has a bullet terminal so that you can connect easily.
The design itself is not designed to obscure the vehicle's stop lights and blinkers, but in order to improve visibility, LED lights that work in conjunction with the stop lights have been installed on the rear box high mount.
*In case of turning on the LED light, you need to drill a 9mm hole in the backrest of the cargo bed [panel stopper].
■In order to make a sophisticated design
When the design of the rear box was considered, the hooks welded to the stock frame unit interfered with the sense of unity between the rear box and the vehicle.
So World Walk cut off the hooks and designed to install a rear box.
■Attention to detail in specifications
The hinges and keys are made by Takigen, a leading manufacturer of industrial hardware since its establishment in 1910.
The keys are powder coated to resist scratches and stains.
The keyhole has a shutter to keep out dust, and the key is reversible so that you can use it either face up or face down.The hinges are made of stainless steel with a buffed finish.
It is made of stainless steel, so it is not only resistant to rust, but also buffed and polished, so it is so beautiful that you can see your own reflection.
The receiving side of the lid is equipped with a rubber [trim seal] to prevent rain and prevent it from sticking.
