[Description]

With Kenny Roberts retiring, Marlboro Yamaha's ace Eddie Lawson was left with two bikes to ride with teammate Virginio Ferrari.
On the other hand, Honda had defending champion Freddie Spencer, Randy Mamola, Raymond Roche and Keiji Katayama.
It was the debut year of Honda's new V-4 NSR500 machine, but on the first day of the opening round, Spencer was forced to sit out due to a fall and injury from a broken carbon rear wheel.
He was the fastest in the second round, but crashed in the British-American match race, breaking his ankle and missing the third round.Other than that, it was not a very stable season, with the re-emergence of the 3-cylinder NS500 due to the poor performance of the NSR.
Lawson, on the other hand, rode steadily and steadily to score points and win his first title.
Other highlights of the season include Franco Unchini and Barry Sheene, who will be driving the final model of the RS500 after the withdrawal of the Suzuki works, and Wein Gardner, who will be driving the production RS500.

Honda's ace "Fast" Freddie Spencer was replaced by "Steady" Eddie Lawson as Yamaha's ace after Kenny's departure.
Spencer's "speed" was unquestionable, but he struggled for points due to a series of injuries and problems.
Lawson's "stability", which earned points in all 12 rounds, brought the team the crown!

The birth of the champion, "Steady" Eddie.
Kenny left the GP and was succeeded by Eddie Lawson. The confrontation between Lawson and Freddie attracted a lot of attention, but Freddie destroyed himself due to a series of troubles.Lawson wins his first title.

Honda debuted the NSR with a V-4...
Spencer won pole in the opening round on the new NSR500 machine with a fuel tank under the engine, but crashed with a broken rear wheel and did not race.Although he achieved pole-to-win in the second round, he was injured in a crash during the match race between Britain and the United States and did not race in the third round.
He had trouble after that, and finally he brought out his 3-cylinder NS and finally won the race. As a result, he finished 6 out of 7 races and won 5 races, but he was no match for Lawson who finished all 12 races and built up points.
