Developer's Long Comment
This time, WR's completely eliminated the data of the old VTR250 exhaust pipe from our mind and started the development without preconception.It was the same with REVO, but it was changed from carburetor to injection, and the data for SPEC3 was not utilized.Rather, I got caught up in the feeling that SPEC3 was all that was left, and tried to make use of that data too much, so I had a lot of trouble.
In the end, developers focused on rebuilding it specifically for the REVO.In fact, it's not just a simple change to injection, of course, but because the bike was produced to meet the world's most stringent environmental and noise standards, the amount of fuel is very severe, and without the ambiguity of a carburetor, the theme is how to efficiently convert a small amount of fuel into power.Originally, 250cc does not have enough torque at low speed, and if you make an efficient exhaust, it is likely to be a high rpm type.
Even if the exhaust is designed for the low speed side, most people will not be able to feel it because the original torque is small, and as a result, the high speed range will be sacrificed, so the exhaust will be "no good".The theory of the exhaust construction is to extend the best part of the exhaust, so the exhaust is usually adjusted to the mid to high speed range, but in this case, WR's spent a lot of time to select the exhaust pipe length and diameter to emphasize the best part and not sacrifice the low speed range.
In particular, the length and diameter of the front and rear exhaust pipes of the stock exhaust were not well-defined, so WR's decided that there was room to improve the low speed range by optimizing these parts.As for the rear exhaust, the length of the exhaust pipe was secured by devising a way to make it longer. As a result, the low speed torque could not be improved greatly, but the connection from the middle speed range to the high speed range is smoother than stock without losing torque.If you feel that the low speed range is weak with this exhaust, it is not because the exhaust has become weak, but because it has become too vigorous in the mid to high speed range.Smoothness also leads to a sense of acceleration.Although it is not easy to feel it in reality, in the bench test, the arrival time was almost 2 seconds faster than the stock, and the difference in horsepower would have been even wider if the limiter had not been activated by the rpm at that time.
This is just the result of bench test and it is unrealistic speed for daily use, but from 5000rpm to 12000rpm, the power graph is better than stock and below that, the power graph is not less than stock.You can feel the actual acceleration and response with the twin sound which is not shown in the graph.
