DGR is a charity event that is held simultaneously worldwide on the same day to support the health of men. The event is focused on motorcycle style and fashion of the good old days.

On Sunday 25th September this year, streets around the world will be filled with stylish riders on their classical bikes.

DGR was first held in 2012 by founder Mark Hawwa of Sydney, Australia. Mark was inspired from a picture of the Television Series ”Mad Men”. In the picture Don Draper, the main character of the series was riding a classical motorcycle dressed up in a stylish suit.

The charity event became global to dispel the negative preconceptions of men riding motorcycles and to create a niche motorcycle community.

The event was popular from the start with 2500 riders participating at 64 cities. Mark lead this event to be a charity. And the results he achieved were remarkable.

In 2013 they gathered a donation of 277,000 dollars for the research of prostate cancer from more than 11,000 people from 145 cities.

In 2014 they gathered a donation of 1,500,000 dollars for the research of prostate cancer from more than 20,000 people from 257 cities of 145 countries.

In 2015 they gathered a donation of 2,300,000 dollars for the research of prostate cancer from more than 37,000 people from 410 cities of 79 countries.

The event hasn’t been held in Japan because there was no organization. But this year it will be held in Chiba Prefecture under a newly founded organization.

This year more than 50,000 people will be participating from 500 cities of 90 countries. The target figure for this year is 5,000,000 dollars which will be donated to ”The Movember Foundation” www.movember.com for suicide prevention activities that take place worldwide.

”The Movember Foundation” is the world’s most largest health support organization for men that acts to support men to live healthier and longer lives.

Since 2003, millions of people have participated in the act and have gathered 715,000,000 dollars which has been donated to more than 1,000 projects related to prostate cancer, testicular tumor and suicide prevention.

Their aim is to create a world where men have strong bonds with the society and can easily commit critical situations and to create a society that can immediately cope with health problems when they occur.

This year is the fourth year for DGR and they will be impelling men to take responsibility of their health, receive medical checkups at short terms and to receive support if it is required.

DGR and ”The Movember Foundation” both aim for the same target. That is to support a longer healthier life for fathers, sons, brothers and friends.
