The long stroke crank with special spacer for long stroke engine has larger piston stroke, but half of the stroke length will be above top dead center and half will be below bottom dead center.To put it simply, the piston pops out from the top of the cylinder by half the amount of the stroke increase.This head gasket spacer is designed to compensate for that "sticking out" part.
