GILD Design has collaborated with "Okoshi Stencil Shoten", a long-established manufacturer of Ise Stencil, to produce a solid bumper for iPhone 12/12Pro.
Okoshi Stencil Shop in Suzuka City, Mie Prefecture and "GILD Design" in Kameyama City, Mie Prefecture, a collaboration of local companies, have been realized.
Based on the concept of "Serious protection for smartphones" this special model features an aluminum case machined from solid high-strength duralumin, a material used in aircraft and automotive parts, with the surface finely engraved with a special laser marker to bring out the image.
Laser engraving is a marking method used for engraving serial numbers on machinery that must not disappear semi-permanently.
The material used is A2017 duralumin made by Furukawa-Sky (now UACJ Corporation).
It is a strong material with good machinability.
95% of the solid duralumin material is machined into an aluminum case while maintaining its strength.
In addition, everything about this GILD Design aluminum case is made in Japan, from the material, surface treatment, bolts to fix the case, attached silicone, wrenches, to the package box.
