[New Vehicle] YAMAHA’s Neo Retro Road Sports Model ”XSR900”.

On 15th April 2016, YAMAHA is releasing XSR900 together with XSR900 60th Anniversary, a limited edition celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the company. The machine is designed in *neo retro style and is mounted with water-cooled 3 cylinder engine and aluminum frame.

The XSR900 60th Anniversary is a limited edition and order reservations will be taken from 23rd February to the end of September this year. Orders will be taken at all YAMAHA Motorcycle Shops throughout Japan.

Designs of the XSR900 are based on the concept ”The Performance Retro-ster”. It is a model that combines stylish retro appearance and first class performance. YAMAHA has loaded TCS (Traction Control System) and A & S (Assist & Slipper) Clutch to the water-cooled 3 cylinder engine of the MT-09 and invented a machine that will offer high dimensional thrilling rides to their fans.

*CMFG designs have been adopted to give the body an authentic image and the texture is made from various unique processing methods. It is also standardly equipped with ABS.

Main Features

1) Light Weight 3 Cylinder Engine with Selectable Riding Mode

XSR900 is loaded with 845cm3 water-cooled 3 cylinder DOHC 4 Valve Engine developed with ”Cross Plane Concept”. The compact combustion chamber will execute rapid combustion to perform excellent output and torque.
It is also equipped with YCC-T (Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle), Plated Cylinder, Forged Aluminum Piston, Primary Couple Balancer, FS Connecting Rod and YAMAHA D-MODE with rider-selectable throttle control.

2) TCS (Traction Control System)

XSR900 is equipped with TCS that offers good performance at acceleration. When it senses the rear wheel spinning it will control the vehicle to accelerate smoothly by controlling 1) Ignition Timing 2) Fuel injection quantity 3) Throttle Angle. Control level can be chosen by ”1 Low” ”2 High” and ”OFF”.

3) A&S Clutch will Reduce Operation Load

Equipped with A & S (Assist & Slipper) Clutch. It will increase riding comfort by offering light feel on the clutch lever and controlling deceleration. Operation load has decreased 20% compared to operation load on MT-09.

4) Authentic CMFG Designs

The body is aggressively designed with CMFG. Aluminum pressed material is used for the Tank Cover, Rear Fender; 5mm aluminum pressed material is used for Side Cover Panel, Meter Bracket; aluminum diecast is used for Front Fender Bracket, Light Bracket; and forged aluminum is used for Tank Suspension Bracket. It emphasizes metallic texture and is simple but has unique individuality.

5) Hand Made Aluminum Tank Cover

The aluminum tank cover on the matt gray model is manually buffed and finished with matt clear finish called ”Hairline Matt Finish”. The buff differs on each surface giving the vehicle individuality.
The tank cover on the blue model is painted on the sides with blue color using masking tape to leave a streak of buffed surface. The streak melts in with the graphic designs and gives tribute to the traditional graphic design. The color of the seat is Burgundy (Wine Color) a new color that emphasizes the texture of genuine leather.
