[Main Characteristics of MSX125(GROM)]
* Design
Aimed to stand out in the street scenery where young people enjoyed riding their bikes. It was strongly built by adopting wide front/rear tires on its stout trapezoid figure, and a 31mm inner tube on its inverted front fork. Also, the boldly designed shroud gave accent to its overall design and generated voluminous feeling and fertile expression. It came in three colors to grasp the attention of young people who were keen to follow the latest fashion of those days: Pearl Queen Bee Yellow, Pearl Valentine Red, and Asteroid Black Metallic.
* Frame & Wheel
Considering its compact body size, it adopted the simple mono backbone frame. It pursued light and stable maneuverability by adopting a rigid and flexible square cross-section steel pipe. Also, its wheel base was made short (1200mm) to achieve high controllability on street roads, and sporty drive feeling on the suburban roads. It adopted a highly rigid inverted type telescopic suspension to its front, and a simple mono suspension to its rear. You could feel both the airiness when driving alone and the pleasant feeling when driving double. The aluminum cast wheels of its front and rear had Y-shaped spoke design, which gave the impression of a large sports type motorcycle. By making the spoke as thin as possible, it reduced its weight to enable light handling on the street roads. It adopted disc brake for its front and rear wheels to make it have stable braking power.
* Engine
Mounted an engine with a powerful and handy output characteristics. It was an air-cooled, 4-stroke, OHC, and 125cc single cylinder engine. It achieved great fuel efficiency (63.2km/L, ground drive test value: 60.0km/h) by adopting equipment such as an electronic control fuel injection device (PGM-FI), an off-set cylinder of low friction technology, or a roller rocker arm. The 4-speed manual transmission made it move in a swift manner. Also, all of the intake and exhaust parts were especially designed to achieve the motion performance that gave one great pleasure of controlling. It generated torque at low/mid speed range and powerful output characteristics at mid/high speed range. *PGM-FI is the registered trademark of HONDA.
