A New Eco Transportation
Prozza Co., Ltd has developed a prototype model of the new electric three-wheeler to launch a pilot project in Pakse, a southern city of Laos.
The city has high expectations for the eco-friendly E-TukTuk to take over side-cars and TukTuk which currently are main transportation systems in the city that run with gasoline.
The new model is available in three specifications; passenger seat only, passenger seat and luggage space and luggage space only. You can choose the type that will best suite your situation. They are all based on the same platform and seat layout can be adjusted according to the purpose of use. This new model also has reduced weight compared to former models and is designed to correspond to narrow roads and small passenger rides.
The development of the E-TukTuk is based upon a subsidy from the Ministry of the Environment of Japan (MOEJ) for the project to “Financing Programme to Demonstrate Advanced Low-Carbon Technology Innovation for Further Deployment in Developing Countries”. The aim is to reduce GHG emissions through the diffusion of electric tricycles in Laos.
During this pilot project, data will be taken for travelling distance, charging frequency and battery conditions to see how they are influenced by the climate of the region. They will also hold hearings from drivers and passengers to collect information for the final overall improvement before mass production.

Efforts Regarding Electric Tricycle Diffusion in Laos
In Laos, over 90% of electricity power is generated by hydropower, whereas the imports of petroleum always has a significant portion in the trade deficit. Base on this background, Laos is promoting the replacement of petroleum.
14 units of E-TukTuk manufactured by Prozza were introduced to the World Heritage City Luag Prabang through the demonstration project instructed by JICA in 2015.
In line with Savannakhet, Pakse is the second largest city in Laos, with many overseas tourists visiting temples in the near area.
At present, the main transportation for locals and tourists are the sidecar called “Samulo” and the vehicle with 1 front wheel and 2 rear wheels called “tuktuks”, but there is an increasing need for a greener and safer transportation.
”Environmentally Sustainable Transport (EST) Forum in Asia” is going to be held in the capital city Vientiane in March 2017. Laos is showing a proactive attitude towards promoting EV.
