The All Japan Road Racing Championship Series comes to round 4 at Twin Ring Motegi for the “TWIN RING MOTEGI SUPERBIKE RACE”. Despite this “rainy season” in Japan, the weather condition was a better one with no rain. Yuki Takahashi going through the final adjustments to the bike and puts 8 laps out on the track and comes 5th in the morning practice with a time of 1’50.976. Ryuichi Kiyonari also goes through the final adjustments and comes 8th on the board with a time of 1’51.569.

In the morning there were hardly any clouds however, by the time for the JSB1000 Class race, there were several clouds here and there but no chance of rain. With that said the race started and Kiyonari starting from 4th on the grid gets a good start and goes by the first lap in 2nd position trying to catch the leader. Takahashi on the other hand comes 6th in the first lap and constantly laps in the 1’50 area. Both riders constantly lapping in the 1’50 zone the riders behind them started raise the pace in midway to end of the race. Unfortunately Kiyonari and Takahashi both could not raise their pace any faster and Takahashi comes 7th and Kiyonari comes 8th to the finish line.

This weekend, MORIWAKI MOTUL RACING had a lot of preparing to go through and were able to survive in Q3 for qualifying, both riders finishing in the top 10, there were many things to observe and data were collected. This speed of development is unbelievably fast and with these two incredible riders, it is just a matter of time for MORIWAKI MOTUL RACING to be in the podium at the next round at Autopolis.

Yuki Takahashi

“I am a bit disappointed for this end result. I had chosen the tyres that would work if the clouds did not show and it was a critical point for the tyres to work in that temperature range. We did not have the data for the long run with these tyres this year so it was a gamble. Anyways, I had a decent start and Ryuichi san was in front of me so if the pace was good, I would follow them for a second and see what I can do from there. With 5 laps in the race the grip started to fade but I was able to ride constantly and I thought I would be able to keep this position however, by the end of the race the grip was gone and it was a tough race. I had chosen a wrong tyre that works in the different temperature range and still gathering the electronic device data for the new CBR it was a difficult race for sure. However, with all this situation going around, I was able to see where I am at this point so thinking positively I will do whatever I can and aim for the top. Thanks.”

Ryuichi Kiyonari

“I had a pretty good start and I was able to grab second right off the bat but for sure I knew that it will be difficult to stay up there for the whole race. Therefore I could not challenge for the lead but I was able to learn from following the rider in front of me to see what I need from here and what is lacking from the bike and myself. The Pirelli tyres are good from the start so I went from the beginning and see what I can do in the leading group and I was not being very aggressive just being calm from the start but the tyres started to wear out and other riders from behind started to raise their pace and I probably could have stayed there if I really went for it however, I decided to stay where I am now since all the hard work from the team will leave with nothing if I crashed and also we still need the data so it was a patient race. We are doing everything possible to erase what is not good for the bike develop what is good for the bike. I can never thank the team for all the hard work every time. The job they do is just simply amazing. We know what to develop next and the direction to go so with this good mood in the team I will do my best for the next race at Autopolis. Thank you!”
