Yamaha has announced “05GEN”and “06GEN”, the 5th and 6th GEN respectively, which are design concepts based on the design philosophy “Refined Dynamism.”

Yamaha displayed a scooter design concept model “04GEN” in Vietnam Motorcycle Show 2016, which was held from April 7th through 10th, 2016 at Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.

04GEN was designed in an image of a noble lady improving her mind and body. “05GEN” and “06GEN”, the 5th and 6th “Gen” respectively, are designed as transportation devices connecting a person with a person and a person with a place.

Yamaha, which has joined in with an architect Toyo Ito’s “building an island” project in Omishima Island (Imabari, Ehime-prefecture), made a departure from efficient transfer seeking a speed and a travelling distance that many transportation devices have been aiming for. It has designed the both models as personal mobility “connecting a person with a person and a person with a place” that slowly runs a short distance within the living area or while travelling.

“05GEN” and “06GEN” will be shown in the preview (July 2nd) and a talk show (July 3rd) at Toyo Ito Museum Imabari in Omishima Island, which reopens after the renovation. “05GEN” will remain after the events.

The 5th and 6th concept models that are based on Yamaha’s design philosophy. More slowly and closer. We will introduce transportation devices “05GEN” and “06GEN” that form connections.

 

“05GEN”

This is tricycle mobility equipped with electric assist technologies in a image of gently wrapping a body in cloth. The open roof and compact body keep you in close distance with people around you and support your small outings with protecting from light rain and sun light.

 

“06GEN”

This is electric four-wheeled mobility in an image of “Engawa (a veranda-like porch),” a neutral space that is neither the inside nor the outside. The open-air structure brought by slow speed and the round and soft design fit in the circumstances, warmly welcome people, and take them to a destination.

 

Omishima Island located in the middle of Shimanami Kaido connecting Onomich and Imabari. Imabari Toyo Ito Museum of Architecture that opened here in Omishima Island in 2011 has triggered an island building by islanders, young architects and architect Toyo Ito as a central role. Yamaha has proposed 05GEN and 06GEN as new transportation and will display 05GEN at Steel Hut in Imabari Toyo Ito Museum of Architecture.
