Yamaha had announced a limited make-to-order sales of the Japan-spec version “WR450F”, a motorcycle for enduro races, from June 30, 2012. W450F had mounted a 450cc water-cooled 4-stroke DOHC 5-valve FI engine on its aluminum frame. It was a motorcycle that demonstrated excellent rotationality, running performance, and easy set-up characteristics.

This “WR450F” was developed based on its concept, “The Real Enduro Racer, Best in tight trail riding!” It was a bike made to have “easy handling engine characteristics”, “quick rotaionality”, and “easy set-up characteristics”. It consolidated its high-level travelling ability in its innovative appearance. It also came with a portable “Power Tuner” that didn’t require a personal computer, and the rider could enjoy the set-up of the FI wherever he liked.
[Main Characteristics]
(1) Water-cooled DOHC 5-valve 450cc engine
It adopted a primary balancer to draw out low vibration and easy handling. It matched it with the high rigid con-rod, high rigid piston, or its crank inertia mass to draw out the excellent power feeling of a large engine displacement volume.
(2) FI with “Power Tuner”
In order to draw out excellent performance even on enduro courses whose condition could change every second, FI has been adopted for the fuel supply system. With the attached “Power Tuner”, the rider could adjust the fuel injection amount map and the injection timing easily.
(3) Aluminum Frame
It adopted the aluminum Bilateral Beam frame.
(4) The Same Front Suspension as YZ250F/450F
It adopted the same front suspension as the MY2012 YZ250F/450F. Features like the damping characteristics were set up in an optimum condition.
(5) Exclusive Seat & Fuel Tank
The seat was developed to make the long-distance drive comfortable. It supported smooth weight shift by elaborating the design of the seat and the tank.
