The concept of the YZF-R series had been transmitted to this 125 class bike.

Unlike the conventional 125cc minibikes, this model had a full-sized chassis to make tall riders drive in a comfortable position even when they took a crouching posture.
According to the orthodox YAMAHA’s supersports theory, they combined the light and rigid delta box frame with the light casting aluminum swing arm to make it have the most powerful maneuverability.
With the sharply designed two-eye headlight built in the front cowl, and the LED tail light assembled to the thin sharp tail cowl, it presented an aggressive supersports style inherited from the YZF-R series.

The exclusive engine generated the most superior performance among the class.

The 4-stroke single cylinder water-cooled SOHC 4-valve engine was controlled by the fuel injection system and responded to the right hand movement in a direct manner. By matching it with the 6-speed gear box, it transmitted the generated power to the road to achieve its best performance.
The exhaust, which stroke a comfortable sound, had consolidated its weight. It adopted a midship layout which was reminiscent of the MotoGP machine, YZR-M1 or YZF-R6. It also completely combusted the exhaust gas to perform purification by using the dual catalyst assembled to the exhaust and the air induction system.

* First class braking system

It had exclusive 17-inch wheels to its front and rear. The front had a large 292mm single disc and a brembo 2POT caliper, whereas the rear had a 230mm disc and a single pot caliper with an opposite piston.
It had a powerful and accurate speed control ability indispensable for a sports drive.

* The cockpit same as the YZF-R series

The driver viewed the same systematic scenery as the YZF-R series when he mounted the bike. The digital number indication were lighted by the orange backlights of the speedometer. The red zone indication was over 10,000rpm. The REV counter was large. Also, the odometer, trip meter, fuel gauge and speedometer were digitally represented to lift the mood of operating the machine.

It was also furnished with high quality equipment worthy of the name of the YZF-R series, and attracted the fans of the European riders.
