It was a hard-liner naked model wrapped in a straight light design that resembled the Z1000R Lawson replica. It mounted a ZZR400-based water-cooled 4-cylinder engine on its steel double cradle frame. Its engine characteristics had good reputation for its power in high rotation range. Its handle moved like that of a heavy-weight motorcycle with a high center of gravity. It was the only model of its class to adopt a 6-POT caliper. All of these features made this model popular along with its other components, such as the aluminum swing arm with a stabilizer, the aluminum handlebar, or the immobilizer. From its MY2007 model, the color of the crankcase cover and the cylinder head cover was changed from bronze to black, and the front fork outer tube, swing arm, rear shock spring were also painted in black. The frame had been changed from matte black to shiny black, and the color of the wheel was changed to gold. It added the new Black color version in March to its original Lime Green version.
