HONDA has officially announced on their web site that orders for VFR800F and VFR800X will be ending.

End of production means that the model no is no longer manufactured but what on earth does “end of order” mean? Are they thinking of modifying specifications to correspond to new emission regulations?

The VFR was given birth when the first motorcycle liquid-cooling 90 degree V-shape 4 Cylinder DOHC 16 Valve Engine with 748cc displacement appeared in 1982.

In 1986, VF750F launched as the world’s first commercial vehicle to be mounted with back torque limiter together with VFR750F mounted with cam gear train instead of a chain. In the 1990’s they exaggerated touring characteristics featuring long stroke engines performing 781cc displacement.

In recent years they have been mounted with advanced technology such as valve deactivation system and dual combined brake system (Front/Rear Link Brake) to achieve social status.

The body is designed with a sharp structure and high quality texture to pursuit its beautiful structure. By adopting a compact radiator, the originally slim V4 engine offers an embraced structure that presents sporty features.

The machine is equipped with a V-shape 4 Cylinder engine that offers powerful engine performance and unique beat at acceleration. Taking full advantage of the V4, it offers power and torque at low to medium rpm using high potential HYPER VTEC.

Another characteristic of the V4 is the exhaust system which has been tuned to offer effective response due to throttle operation. The potential of the V4 has been pursued for various situations such as highways, winding roads and pillion rides.

The powerful VFR800F offers stable rides and is just great for touring.

VFR800X Sophisticated Designs that Enhance the Rider’s Adventurous Spirit

The VFR800X was revealed at the INTERMOT held on October 2014 and was developed with Honda’s crossover concept to open a new field in the motorcycle market.

Before it was released in Japan, VFR800X was released overseas as “Crossrunner”. Some of you might remember Honda’s afterparts manufacturer M-TEC (MUGEN) importing the machine at the time, customizing it with their afterparts and releasing it in a limited number as VFR800X MUGEN.

The VFR800X is the Japanese model of the Crossrunner.

The difference between the VFR800X MUGEN and VFR800F is the extended front, rear suspension and offroad settings. Engine, swingarm, radiator, exhaust, front/rear wheels and main frame are the same.

It is equipped with traction control that controls traction on the back wheel by adjusting fuel injection and engine torque which prevents tires from slipping when the machine is running on gravel surface.

The height of the seat of the VFR800X can be adjusted with on-board tools to either 835mm or 815mm. Standing position has been considered to determine the height.

Apart from large adventure models, you won’t have to worry about the large body or heavy weight. The medium body will allow you to easily challenge rough road surfaces. It is a machine made by Japanese for Japanese people.

Are Orders Ending to Recertify Electromagnetic Compatibility?

mc1412027H

There is no information whether VFR800F or VFR800X will be resold in the future or it will be no longer produced.

There are rumors that a few models from HONDA’s “No Longer Produced List” will be resold after modifications to correspond to electromagnetic compatibility.

According to reports, “Motorcycles manufactured after 1st August 2016 are required to modify electric devices to correspond to Regulations Concerning Electromagnetic Compatibility (Article No.10).” It is suggested that Honda’s announcement was made because the models currently do not correspond to electromagnetic compatibility.

Some models will be resold after modification and VFR800F/X just might be one of them.

It would be great to see the VFR800F/X again with modified specifications.
